I am a native of Smithfield, Virginia, Isle of Wight County. I have five miraculous children, two sons and three daughters. I have thirteen grandchildren, five grandsons and eight granddaughters. I attended Westside Elementary where my mother was a super custodian. I graduated from SmithfieldHigh School in 1975. I attended Tidewater Community College, 1975-1976. I served in the United States Army from 1976-1980. While there, I was a switchboard operator in Charlie Company communication field. I received Honorable Discharge after 3 1/2 years of service as a E-4 Specialist. One of my hobby I enjoy doing is cooking, and sharing it with others. Also, as an mom and grandmom, I try to with God's help, to be the best role model for them. In 1992-1993, I was hired by Bessemer Board of Education. My job site is J. S. Abrams Elementary School, "Home of Panther Nation" where everyone is a winner. I work with small groups of 6-7 students. It is a joy to see each individual student blossom and grow into stronger learners. My aim and goal is to continue to build their self-esteem, to encourage, to motivate, to speak positive words in their lives, and award them for trying to do their best. As a paraeducator, I know that it's going to take God and praying daily for our students and for ourselves.
Biblical verses that I meditate on to get me through the day are:
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me.
Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
